Sustainable Middleborough is a grassroots, community-based environmental organization created by a group of local residents in 2017 to promote sustainable energy policies and practices in Middleborough and, in collaboration with other organizations, statewide. Our goal is to create a livable planet for our children and generations to come.
Since 2017 we have worked to:
• promote more ambitious green energy goals for the town through the municipally-owned gas and electric utility;
• encourage Middleboro Gas and Electric (MGED) to increase its budget for energy-saving incentives;
• secure grant funds to support new energy-saving initiatives in the town and schools;
• made new state energy-related financing available to commercial property-holders;
• educated the community through public speakers, training, films, and booths at local events; and
• joined with other statewide environmental groups to advocate for statewide clean-energy policies and programs.
