5 Steps to Save on Your Energy Bill

YOU CAN GET SOME OR EVEN ALL OF YOUR WEATHERIZATION PAID FOR. IT’S NOT HARD, AND WE CAN HELP!

1. Check your income.

HOUSEHOLD SIZEGROSS ANNUAL INCOME4 WEEK GROSS INCOME
1$45,392$3,492
2$59,359$4,566
3$73,326$5,640
4$87,294$6,715
5$101,261$7,789

See if you qualify to get 100% of your weatherization paid for—that’s right, ALL of it, up to $4,500. If you already qualify for fuel assistance, then you qualify for the 100% Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). Contact 508-747-7575 x6253 or sscac.org/weatherization to apply. They’ll take it from there.

If your income is at or below the guidelines in the chart, but you haven’t ever applied for fuel assistance before, then you’ll need to get your income qualified first, between November and April. Call 508-746-6707. Then contact the Weatherization Assistance Program at 508-747-7575 x6253. There’s currently a wait both for callbacks and for scheduling evaluations, so it will take some patience and persistence. But it will be worth it to get your weatherization paid for.

DID YOU KNOW?

You can make a FREE appointment with an independent Abode Energy Management consultant who will talk to you about your house and situation before you invest in weatherization, heat pumps, or solar panels.

While you’re waiting for your audit, contact Abode, who can help you get started:

2. Sign up for a free audit and get free stuff.

Don’t qualify above? Sign up for a free energy audit: 888-772-4242, hea@ene.org, or ene.org/ene-sustainability/hea. The audit can qualify you for a 50% weatherization rebate from Middleborough Gas & Electric, with a cap of $1,000 for insulation and $500 for air sealing. You’ll also get a free Smart Strip, gasket switch, and light bulbs.

3. Make a plan with the auditor.

When the energy auditor comes to your house, you’ll get a roadmap of what you can do to save energy and money over months or years. You’re not obligated to do or spend anything until you’re ready.

4. Choose a contractor, or do it yourself!

Get contractor estimates, choose a contractor, & schedule the work. You can also do work yourself and still get a rebate on materials.

5. Apply for your rebate.

Save your receipts. You have until January 31 to apply for a rebate on anything the auditor recommended that you spent in the previous calendar year: ene.org/sustainability-rebates. Call 888-772-4242 with questions.

HAVE NO FEAR of what the audit will find. You’re not alone. Lots of us in town live in old leaky housing that needs weatherization! You can start small and make a plan that works for you.
